About 3,6, millions of copies of plastic children's plates, decorated with images of superheroes, giraffes and typewriters, were officially withdrawn, as the transparent plastic layer fixing the graphics can break away and become a threat of suffocation for the child, reports NBC New York.
The official statement of the US Consumer Safety Commission reads as follows: company Playtex 372 was informed of cases of breaking off or peeling of the transparent layer, 11 reports of plastic parts in the oral cavity of children, and four cases of swallowing with the threat of suffocation.
Children's dishes Playtex sold in Walmart, Babies R Us, Target, on Amazon and in other large stores since October 2009, for about 2,5 dollars per plate or cup, or a set for 15 dollars.
Anyone who has such dishes, are asked to immediately stop using it. Playtex guarantees parents a full refund of funds spent on the purchase of goods. The plates and cups of the company have a colored bezel and non-slip bottom, animals or superheroes are depicted on the bottom.
