A resident of Michigan almost brought her 4-year-old son to death, closing him in the closet for several days. It lasted for months, and possibly for years.
Megan Sug will spend 25 to 50 years in jail, a Calone County judge ordered, a court spokesman told the magazine People. A woman was found guilty of one case of abuse of a child of the first degree.
During Friday's hearings, Judge Sarah Lincoln said the 24-year-old woman is “possibly the meanest person who has ever been in this courtroom.” The mother killed the child slowly. According to the judge, if the woman was going to just kill her son, she would have done it quickly and less painfully, but Sug made him suffer for months, if not years.
In March, 2017, Shug brought a barely alive son, Malloy Gaines, to a local hospital. The boy was not breathing and was in a half-dead state. His legs were bound, and he lost one toe due to gangrene. The hospital staff, fearing that the child would not survive, sent him to a hospital in Kalamazoo in critical condition.
36-year-old Isaac Miller, boyfriend Shug, received a charge of abuse of a second-level child, but did not admit his guilt on any item. Step told the judge that she regretted what had been done, and claimed that she was covering the child in the closet to protect her from Miller’s attacks. But prosecutors argued that none of the actions of the mother was not related to love for the child.
Now guardian parents take care of the boy, who plan to adopt him officially. Lawyers Shag did not comment on this situation.
