46-year-old Didi Phillips, from Georgia, herself killed a wild lynx that attacked her in the yard of her house. Later it became known that the animal was infected with rabies.
“Today I won't die, that was my first thought,” Didi admits. The woman did not make a sound, afraid to wake up the little granddaughter, who was sleeping in the house at that time, writes Fox News. She grabbed the animal by the neck and choked it until the lynx breathed its last.
When it became clear that the animal was not moving, Didi called her son, who stabbed the lynx several times with a knife. The police arrived at the scene, the body of the animal was taken for examination, where it turned out that the analysis for rabies gave a positive result. Phillips was seriously injured - she suffered a broken toe and multiple bites and wounds from lynx claws on her chest, legs and arms. She is now on a course of injections for rabies.
Only at the first stage, the treatment will cost the affected 10 thousands of US dollars. The woman’s brother organized a fundraiser to help Didi. Lynx is considered a rare animal, while it is characterized by aggression towards a person: lynx often attack people when they are sick.
