A Pennsylvania resident was imprisoned after marrying his 18-year-old stepdaughter, without even divorcing her mother, says New York Post.
44-year-old Christopher Hauptmann is accused of bigamy, falsification of documents, including possession of firearms, and a number of other offenses and will appear before the state district court. In November 2015, he registered an official marriage with 43-year-old Shannon Dietrich in Florida. Less than a year later, a man married his 18-year-old stepdaughter, Shannon’s daughter, Kayle, without filing a divorce from his first wife.
The authorities found out about bigamy when Hauptmann applied for a weapon permit under the fake name Buckley in 2016. The deputy sheriff noticed that he looked like Hauptmann, and the fingerprints confirmed that he was one and the same person.
Hauptmann will spend in prison from one to two years. He is forbidden to contact Dietrich, who testified against him in court, but he maintains relations with her daughter.
