Laura Messi, a 40-year-old fitness trainer from Italy, is sure that a happy fairy tale is quite possible without a prince. The other day, the woman held a luxurious, completely real wedding ceremony, during which she “married” herself, writes with the BBC.
At the wedding, which was organized by Messi, were all the traditional attributes of the holiday: snow-white dress of the bride of classic style, long veil, multi-layered wedding cake, elegant bridesmaids and even seventy guests.
“I am sure that each of us, first of all, should love himself,” says the main heroine of the celebration. The idea to enter into such an unusual "union" came to the woman two years ago after the difficult end of a 12-year relationship. Laura promised her friends and relatives to be “married” with herself, if she does not find a suitable match for herself before the age of forty.
Of course, it is not legally possible to marry or marry yourself. But such acts are increasingly performed by women and men around the world. The new trend has even been called "sologamy". According to the adherents of this movement, with a wedding they celebrate love and approval of themselves, and also seek acceptance by society on a par with the usual married couples.
Laura Messi became the first Italian woman to take such an unusual step. According to her, for a wedding with yourself you need money, support from friends and family, and most importantly, "a little madness."
