To keep up with beauty, many women of fashion subject their bodies to various "modifications": remove hair, apply gel to nails, use peels. Marketers say that all these procedures have a healing and rejuvenating effect, but in fact, even an ordinary trip to the beauty salon can cause problems.
Epilation
According to supporters of complete hair removal, hair removal is necessary for everyone not only for beauty, but also for hygiene, writes Rambler. But scientists do not agree with this statement: during the procedure with the use of wax, you can become infected with sexually transmitted diseases, and most often with genital herpes. The whole thing is in violation of the processing spatula. So your health in this case will depend entirely on the master. Also, hair removal on the body can lead to acne.
Mechanical disposal of hair leads to inflammation, and because of this, bacteria accumulate in the hair follicle. Laser hair removal is considered among the safest methods of hair removal, but it also threatens with burns and pigmentation disorders.
Shellac
This trend began to gain popularity in the early 2010s, and it’s clear why: given the strength and appearance of a manicure using gel polish, it looks like new even after a couple of weeks. But this manicure is harmful for several reasons. First, UV lamps are used to dry the varnish, which, if used incorrectly, can cause burns. Secondly, removing shellac is not at all a useful process, because the nails are soaked in acetone for 15 minutes, and then the remaining coating is removed mechanically. The most dangerous among the side effects can be deformation of the nail plate.
Hair straightening
We are talking about the so-called keratin recovery, which is positioned as a wellness procedure. Of course, there can be no talk of any recovery. According to urban legend, in 2003, employees of a Brazilian mortuary noticed that formalin, which is used to treat bodies, can make hair smooth and silky. Subsequently, on its basis, a straightening composition was created, which, when heated, releases formaldehyde. Of course, the appearance of the hair improves significantly, but keratin is not able to penetrate the hair, which means that healing does not occur. In addition, after straightening, the hair may break more and become drier.
However, this procedure is unsafe and can affect well-being. Formaldehyde, due to its toxicity, irritates the mucous membranes of the eyes and throat, and is also considered a carcinogen and, with constant use, increases the risk of cancer.
Chemical peeling
If peeling is performed incorrectly, then the procedure can only harm the skin. First of all, it should be borne in mind that any chemical peeling should be carried out only according to indications. There are three types of peeling: superficial (for the treatment of acne and small pigmentation), medium (for severe age spots and small scars) and deep (for old scars and wrinkles). But there are people for whom peeling is completely contraindicated, and when trying to get rid of age spots, you can only increase pigmentation. And this is not to mention all kinds of infections, allergies, problematic healing and skin hypersensitivity.
Tattooing
Among the risks of tattooing are the same as for ordinary tattoos - infections from a non-sterile instrument, allergies, scars, and so on. However, the specificity of side effects from tattooing is associated with the area in which it is most often performed. Complications can lead to eyelash loss and even eyelid necrosis.
