New Yorker Louise Jean Signore, who celebrates 106's birthday, explains her longevity with physical activity, diet and loneliness.
The woman was born in 1912, in a family of Italian Americans, writes Lenta.ru. Before 1977, she worked in an organization engaged in passenger transportation in New York, then retired. She lives alone, but often visits the local center for the elderly.
“I never thought I'd live to see this,” she says. - When I first started going to this center, there was a woman who turned 100 years old. I said: “My God! She is 100 years old! ”. And now I'm 106 myself. "
Signoret believes she has maintained her health thanks to constant physical activity. She had been swimming since the age of nine, and when she grew up, she tried to walk more, was fond of dancing and bocce - an Italian game similar to petanque. Even in old age, a woman continues to do exercises.
Another reason is healthy eating. She lovingly recalls family dinners: “Every evening we had salad, fruits and vegetables. And always wine on the table. A pie and soda only on Sundays. "
Her fiance died during World War II. After that, Signoret never married, she has no children either. “I'm single,” she says. “I think this is another secret of my longevity.”
In May, it was reported that 106-year-old Briton Madeline Dye believes the secret of his longevity is the rejection of relationships with men. In her opinion, this way she avoided the stress associated with marriage and relationships.
